I read this over at Law and Gospel.

I think the idea of Earth Hour is great and is something that we all should participate in! Join with people around the world for the care of our creation. For one hour this Saturday March 29th at 8:00pm turn off your lights and make a big impact on the world. This video from the World Wildlife Federation explains everything that you need to know.
Major cities around the world will join us in taking a stand on the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, uniting millions of people to turn the tide on global warming.

  1. Dr. John says:

It will help if Global Warming is the result of human action. It won’t if its a natural cycle. In which case we should be working at how to live with it. As a matter of fact since most people won’t change we still should be working at learning how to live with it.

I havea hard time believing that one hour would put much of a dent in years of environmental abuse…and I’m not completely sold on global warming. That being said, conserving what we can never hurt anybody.

THis is such a strange issue that when I was looking for a link for an upcoming I ran across an anti-sicxty minute movement. There they advocate that we turn our lights on to show our disdain for the whole thing.
Perhaps I will turn mine off for half an hour and on for half an hour. Wouldn’t want to offend anybody. Or will that offend everybody?

John – there is always someone trying to ruin everyone’s fun……feel free to do as you wish. I am sure you will have people love and/or hate you :)

David- I think you could be right in saying it will not do as much as predicted. But what harm would it do by participating? We all need to start somewhere right? If we threw our hands up in the air with any effort to recycle or improve our environment then we will never have a chance to get anywhere won’t we?
